Effective date: August 12, 2026
eDigitalReviews may earn revenue through advertising, sponsored content, product partnerships, affiliate relationships, promotional campaigns, and other commercial arrangements.
Commercial revenue helps support the operation of the website, including editorial research, product evaluation, hosting, software, technical maintenance, photography, video production, and content development.
Our commercial relationships must not mislead readers or compromise the accuracy of our technology reviews, buying advice, product comparisons, tutorials, or editorial analysis. This Advertising and Sponsored Content Policy explains how commercial material is managed, identified, reviewed, and separated from independent editorial coverage.
1. Editorial Independence
Editorial judgment remains separate from advertising and sponsorship decisions.
Advertisers, manufacturers, retailers, public relations agencies, sponsors, and business partners cannot purchase:
- A positive product review.
- A guaranteed rating.
- A favorable product ranking.
- A recommendation for a particular audience.
- Removal of material criticism.
- Control over an editorial conclusion.
- Suppression of relevant product limitations.
- A false claim of hands-on testing.
- An undisclosed endorsement.
A company may provide factual information, product documentation, technical clarification, or a response to an article. That information may be considered during editorial research, but it does not determine the final assessment.
A commercial relationship does not prevent eDigitalReviews from publishing an unfavorable review. Similarly, the absence of a commercial relationship does not prevent us from covering or recommending a product.
2. Types of Commercial Content
Commercial material may appear in several forms.
Display Advertising
Display advertising may appear as banners, sidebar placements, in-content advertisements, video advertisements, sponsored widgets, promotional cards, or other visual formats.
Display advertisements are selected, served, or managed by eDigitalReviews, an advertising provider, or an authorized commercial partner. Their appearance does not mean that eDigitalReviews endorses every claim, product, service, or business shown in the advertisement.
Sponsored Articles
A sponsored article is content created or funded as part of a paid commercial arrangement. It may be written by eDigitalReviews, an approved contributor, a partner, or an outside organization, depending on the agreement.
Sponsored articles should be clearly identified so readers can distinguish them from independent editorial reviews and analysis. A sponsor may provide subject information, campaign objectives, brand guidelines, or factual corrections, but may not require misleading claims or control the appearance of independent editorial judgment.
Branded Features
A branded feature may explain a technology subject, introduce a product, present an expert perspective, or provide educational information connected to a company or campaign.
Branded features must not create the false impression that they are independent product testing when no independent testing took place. The commercial relationship should be clear from the presentation and context.
Sponsored Product Comparisons
A sponsored comparison requires particular care because readers may reasonably interpret a comparison as independent advice.
We may decline sponsored comparisons when the sponsor requires the featured product to win, excludes relevant competitors, prevents criticism, or limits the information needed for a fair evaluation.
Newsletter and Promotional Content
Promotional material may appear in newsletters, email communications, website notices, product announcements, or other subscriber communications.
Commercial messages should be distinguishable from ordinary editorial communication. Promotional content should not be presented as an independent recommendation unless it has been evaluated according to relevant editorial standards.
3. Identifying Sponsored Content
Sponsored content should use clear language that communicates its commercial nature. Labels may include:
- Sponsored Content.
- Paid Partnership.
- Brand Collaboration.
- Promotional Feature.
- Presented in Partnership With.
- Commercial Feature.
The label should be visible, understandable, and placed where readers are likely to see it. It should not be hidden in small text, buried at the bottom of an article, or replaced with vague wording that suggests independent editorial coverage.
Commercial labels should not be removed during editing, syndication, translation, design changes, or publication updates.
4. Product Placement
A product may appear in an article, photograph, video, comparison table, tutorial, or other editorial feature because it was supplied, loaned, purchased, or provided through a commercial relationship.
Product placement alone does not determine a recommendation. We may identify a product in a factual context without endorsing it.
A product should not be presented as independently tested when it was only displayed, demonstrated, or supplied for promotional purposes. If hands-on evaluation did not occur, the content should not imply otherwise.
Product placement should not conceal important limitations, compatibility requirements, subscription costs, or conditions that could affect a reader’s decision.
5. Sponsored Reviews
A sponsored review is distinct from an independent product review.
If a company pays for content about its product, the article should not be presented as an unbiased review unless the product has been evaluated under appropriate editorial standards and the commercial relationship is clearly disclosed.
A sponsor cannot require:
- A predetermined score.
- A guaranteed recommendation.
- A specific ranking.
- Removal of negative observations.
- False claims about product use.
- Invented performance results.
- Unverified customer experiences.
- Statements that exceed the available evidence.
If the sponsor requires editorial control over the conclusion, we may decline the project or publish it only as clearly identified promotional material without presenting it as independent review coverage.
6. Affiliate Relationships
eDigitalReviews may earn commissions from eligible purchases, registrations, subscriptions, or other qualifying actions completed through affiliate links.
Affiliate relationships are different from sponsored content, but they are also commercial relationships. Affiliate links may appear in product reviews, buying guides, comparison articles, tutorials, product tables, newsletters, or other editorial content.
The presence of an affiliate link does not guarantee that the product is suitable, reliable, or recommended. Affiliate revenue does not determine the rating, position, inclusion, or conclusion of an article.
We may recommend products that do not generate commissions, and we may criticize or exclude products that do generate commissions.
7. Advertiser Influence
Advertisers and sponsors may provide factual corrections or point out technical information that requires clarification. We may review such information and make a change when the evidence supports it.
An advertiser may not require a correction solely because it dislikes an opinion, rating, comparison, or negative conclusion. Editorial content may be changed when it contains a factual error, becomes materially outdated, or lacks important context.
Advertising revenue does not give a commercial partner authority over unrelated content, authors, editors, article selection, publication schedules, ratings, or recommendations.
8. Brand Safety and Partner Selection
We may decline advertising or sponsorship from a company, product, service, or industry that conflicts with our audience, editorial standards, legal obligations, or responsible publishing practices.
We may consider:
- Whether the product is relevant to our readers.
- Whether the claims can be presented accurately.
- Whether the business appears legitimate.
- Whether the offer creates a significant risk of reader harm.
- Whether the campaign requires misleading promotion.
- Whether the product involves inappropriate or unlawful activity.
- Whether the partnership would create an unacceptable conflict of interest.
Acceptance of an advertisement does not mean that every claim made by the advertiser has been independently verified. Readers should review the terms, limitations, pricing, and conditions provided by the advertiser or service provider.
9. Accuracy of Advertising Claims
Commercial partners are responsible for providing accurate information about their products, services, prices, offers, features, availability, limitations, and eligibility requirements.
We may request evidence or clarification for claims that appear inaccurate, exaggerated, incomplete, or potentially misleading. We may reject, revise, suspend, or remove an advertisement when the information is not adequately supported or becomes outdated.
Advertising content should not claim that a product is “the best,” “number one,” “guaranteed,” “risk-free,” “official,” or similar unless the claim has a reasonable and current basis.
Promotional offers should clearly communicate significant conditions, including eligibility rules, subscription terms, renewal prices, trial periods, limitations, regional restrictions, and expiration dates when relevant.
10. Editorial and Commercial Staff
Commercial staff, advertising partners, and business representatives should not direct the substance of independent editorial content.
Editorial writers and reviewers should not alter a product assessment to preserve an advertising relationship. When a commercial arrangement creates a significant conflict, we may assign the work to another contributor, require additional editorial review, disclose the relationship, or decline the assignment.
Contributors must disclose relevant financial, professional, personal, or commercial relationships connected to a product, company, service, or subject they cover.
11. Sponsored Social and Visual Content
Sponsored content may appear in images, videos, social media posts, audio recordings, newsletters, product demonstrations, event coverage, or other media formats.
Commercial disclosures should remain visible or understandable when content is shortened, reformatted, embedded, shared, translated, or distributed through another channel.
A sponsored video or image should not show a product being used, measured, or tested in a way that did not occur. Artificially created or edited visuals should not be presented as real product evidence.
12. Reader Understanding
Our commercial content should help readers distinguish among:
- Independent editorial analysis.
- Product information supplied by a company.
- Affiliate recommendations.
- Advertising.
- Sponsored content.
- Product placement.
- Reader-submitted opinions.
- Third-party statements.
Clear distinctions allow readers to evaluate the information with appropriate context. A commercial relationship should never be hidden in a way that could cause a reasonable reader to mistake paid promotion for independent editorial judgment.
13. Changes and Removal
Commercial arrangements may change after publication. An advertising campaign may end, an affiliate program may change its terms, or a sponsored article may become outdated.
We may update, label, restrict, or remove commercial content when:
- The campaign ends.
- A product is discontinued.
- Pricing or promotional terms change.
- A claim becomes inaccurate.
- The sponsor violates the agreement.
- The content creates a misleading impression.
- A third-party service becomes unavailable.
- New information changes the commercial or editorial context.
We may retain an article for editorial or archival reasons while updating its commercial labels or removing outdated promotional material.
14. Rejection of Improper Requests
We may reject requests for:
- Undisclosed paid reviews.
- Guaranteed positive product coverage.
- False expert endorsements.
- Hidden affiliate links.
- Mass-produced search-engine content.
- Paid links disguised as editorial references.
- Reviews based on products that were never tested.
- Removal of accurate criticism.
- Fabricated testimonials.
- Misleading comparisons.
- Advertising that conceals important conditions.
- Content designed primarily to manipulate rankings or reader behavior.
We may also terminate a commercial relationship when a partner provides inaccurate information, attempts to influence editorial judgment, fails to honor disclosure requirements, or creates a material risk for readers.
eDigitalReviews welcomes responsible commercial partnerships that provide useful information to a relevant audience. Advertising and sponsorship can support independent publishing, but commercial revenue must never replace accuracy, transparency, editorial judgment, or respect for the reader’s ability to make an informed decision.
